Olena Luggassi is an Australian Fashion Designer, Illustrator and Educator.
At the age of five, Olena first developed her passion for design by playing with paper dolls. With a grandmother and a mother who loved to sew as a hobby, it was natural that she would grow up with the same passion. From the age of 12, Olena was taught how to sew by her mother and her talent continued from there. Olena Luggassi has the reputation of working as a Fashion Design lecturer at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney. Olena has worked with some amazing Fashion Labels such as Bora and Airs & Graces. 2005 was the year when she launched her label “Olena Luggassi” in Brisbane, Australia. She finds true joy in sharing her passion with others. Olena has published her first book "In the Shadows: The Allure and Mystery of Black" on 22 January 2024. It is available in E-book format here |

Olena has loads of enriching experience in designing, illustrating, making patterns apart from producing fashionable clothes by maintaining the highest degree of professionalism especially when it comes to its cut and finish. Thanks to her exemplary work, she has been a role model for many. Olena is an expert in attention to detail, handwork and finishing techniques, an expert in the art of beading, embroidery and lace work, and in the construction of a perfect fit bodice. Increasing number of people understand her mettle since her precision in the work speaks volumes about her enriching skills. Being a wonderful tutor, she has been imparting her skills and she is registering the presence of ever increasing students who are taking lessons from her. Students are keen on learning the things in a quick and effective way. Now they are getting the opportunity to learn intricate and sophisticated things in a highly professionalized and effective way from the designer. Olena Luggassi has the reputation of working as a Fashion Design lecturer at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney. She was also writing Fashion courses for Open Colleges, Australia. Olena has worked with some amazing Fashion Labels such as Bora and Airs & Graces. 2005 was the year when she launched her label “Olena Luggassi” in Brisbane, Australia. |

Olena Luggassi, a local fashion designer, has had many highlights during her fashion design career, however she finds true joy in sharing her passion with others.
Growing up in Ukraine, at the age of five, Olena first developed her passion for design by playing with paper dolls.
With a grandmother and a mother who loved to sew as a hobby, it was natural that she would grow up with the same passion.
From the age of 12, Olena was taught how to sew by her mother and her talent continued from there.
Olena has such qualifications- Master of Education, Advanced Diploma in Fashion; Certificate IV in Assessment and Training.
After moving to Australia in 2000, Olena launched her own fashion line in 2005, but it was not without facing many sleepless nights.
“It was very challenging to develop my own line I spent all day, everyday searching for design inspiration and preparing for my fashion show”, she said.
In addition to her own fashion line, Olena has worked for the renowned Whitehouse Institute of design in Sydney and she has qualifications in teaching and advanced qualifications in design.
“ I am still designing every day but my passion now is teaching others to design and create a passion for the world of design within them”, Olena said.
Throughout the year Olena runs courses and workshops at a home based Design studio here in Penrith, NSW, for anyone who is interested in fashion design or manufacture.
“Fashion has always been part of my heart and part of my family and that is what I want to share with my students”, she said.
Olena has had students who have gone on to launch their own fashion lines and others who have simply developed a great passion for design as a hobby.
“Every day is a highlight of my career. I spend every single hour of every day doing what I love and that is true success in life”, she said.
“One day I hope that my students will share my passion for what I do”.
